Have you ever wondered why there is a set minimum for what people can pay their workers in America? This is called minimum wage; for the US, the federal minimum wage is 7.25 dollars. An employee must be covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) to be paid at least the federal minimum wage, but luckily for employees, many jobs are covered. There are many reasons why the minimum wage has been implemented in the US, but there are still many debates on whether it benefits the economy overall.

Entrepreneur Highlight: The Ellen DeGeneres Show By Ellen DeGeneres

The Ellen DeGeneres show aired in the United States and Canada as a daytime talk show for the first time on September 8, 2003. Ellen DeGeneres has been the host of the show since its inception, and her humor and love of talking to others are arguably one of the main reasons the show became so popular. Besides the many celebrity interviews DeGeneres led, she also provided a space for musical performances and several episodes of games with audience members. However, the show wasn’t all about performances, as DeGeneres also focused on her charitable acts, such as her “Ellen Giving Back” episodes. Despite the show’s popularity, DeGeneres faced controversy in 2020 over reported workplace culture issues, which led her to announce in 2021 that season 19 of the show would be the last.
